Infant oral health

“First visit by first birthday” sums it up. Your child should visit a pediatric dentist when the first tooth comes in, usually between 6 and 12 months of age. This relaxed visit will establish a dental home for your child. Early examination and preventive care will protect your child’s smile now and in the future.

Preventive dentistry

Tooth cleaning and polishing and fluoride treatments all work together to make up your child’s prevention program. Other prevention options include sealants applied to protect your child from tooth decay, a mouth guard to prevent sports injuries to the teeth, and early diagnosis of orthodontic problems.

Digital X-rays

X-rays allow dentists to diagnose and detect conditions that cannot be seen during a clinical examination. Our office uses digital X-rays and proper shielding to assure that your child receives a minimal amount of radiation exposure.

Restorative dentistry

If tooth decay is detected, we will recommend a restorative dentistry plan, which could include fillings, nerve treatments and/or crowns (caps). Should your child need any of these services, our office will discuss the many available materials and procedures that we use to provide the most evidence-based dental restorative care.

Emergency dental care

Quick action can save a tooth, prevent infection and reduce the need for extensive dental treatment. If your child chips a tooth, falls and loses a tooth or has a toothache, please call our office at 913-239-0703 so we can make arrangements to evaluate the situation.

General Anesthesia in the Office

General anesthesia may be necessary for children with extensive dental needs who are extremely uncooperative, fearful or anxious, as well as very young children who do not yet understand how to cope in a cooperative fashion, or children with special health care needs. Our office partners with the pediatric anesthesiologists of Mobile Anesthesia Care to provide general anesthesia in our office.

Dental Health Presentations

Dental decay is preventable! Our office provides dental health presentations for preschools, schools, childcare facilities, prenatal classes…let us know if you would like to get on our presentation calendar!
