Our Policies

Inclement Weather

In case of inclement weather, the Sunny Day Pediatric Dentistry office will close if the Blue Valley AND Olathe School Districts cancel classes.  Please tune into your local television station to find out if school has been closed for both districts.

If your appointment was scheduled for a day when we close due to inclement weather, a member of our staff will contact you the next business day to reschedule your child/children’s appointment.  In case of a dental emergency during a time when we have closed due to inclement weather, please call the office and follow the prompts to have Dr. Day paged.  If you have any questions regarding our inclement weather policy, please call Brett at (913) 239-0703.

Behavior Guidance

Parents are always welcome to come back with children for treatment- in fact, we encourage it!

We believe your presence helps us treat your child most effectively and provides open communication. Safety and quality of care are the utmost importance to us, and we want to partner with you to promote a positive dental attitude.

Our basic techniques include Tell-Show-Do, distraction, positive reinforcement and the optional use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as needed.

Advanced techniques include protective stabilization and general anesthesia.

Children that would benefit from these techniques often are unable to cooperate due to lack of psychological or emotional maturity and/or mental, physical, or medical disabilities.

Payment Policies and Insurance

For patients without insurance, payment in full is expected for services your child receives on that day of service. Major credit cards, checks, and cash are accepted.

For those patients with dental insurance, our office will send claims to the insurance carrier, provided that the insurance card is presented to the office at the time of the visit.

Dental insurance may not cover all of the costs of your child’s dental care.

Most plans include coinsurance provisions, a deductible, and certain other expenses that must be paid by the responsible party at the time of services.

Any portion of services not covered by dental insurance, along with your deductible, is due on the day your child is treated.

Based on the information from your insurance provider, we will give you an estimate of the total cost to you.  If however there is a balance due after insurance pays, that additional cost will become your responsibility, and is due within 30 days.

Payment/Financing Plans

Continued advancements in technology, and procedures that are often not covered or fully covered by insurance, have created new choices for care and increased the demand for a financing option.
Sunny Day Pediatric Dentistry is pleased to offer CareCredit to our patients.

CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that can be used as a payment option for certain expenses not covered by insurance or to bridge situations when desired care exceeds insurance coverage.

CareCredit is the only health care financing company endorsed by ADA Business Resources and is celebrating its 25th anniversary of helping patients finance their health care.

Some things in life can be put off. Fortunately, quality health care doesn’t have to be one of them. The Citi Health Card offers flexible payment plans at participating providers that allow you to get the treatments you need right now. Other benefits include:

Flexible Payment Plans on qualified purchases and revolving credit option at participating providers (see your provider for details)
Low monthly payments and no pre-payment penalties
  No down payment required
Separate account for health care expenses keeps other credit available for personal use
